Joe started SAGA in 1985 to fill the void created by the loss of the Youth And Young Adult Conservation Corps (YCC & YACC) programs. He has helped SAGA grow from a small seasonal conservation corps in Southeast Alaska, to a year round service program. Joe loves hearing from past members, so drop him a line!

Anita and Joe co-directed the organization in its early years with Joe handling program development while Anita tended the administrative and financial side. She loves being part of a program that makes a positive difference.

Scott has 30 years experience as an educator - learning with Alaska Native youth, Mexican American children and families, college students, and AmeriCorps Members. He earned an MA and a BA at the University of Northern Iowa. Scott loves wild places and a good laugh.

Justin arrived at SAGA in 2003 as an Americorps Field Educator with the Serve Alaska Youth Corps. Inspired by the people and mountains he stayed on...and on...and on. His first staff position was as the Education Coordinator with SAYC based out of the Northern office. In 2005 he relocated to Juneau and began working with the Young Alaskans Building Affordable Housing as the Construction Trainer and eventually as the Construction Manager. After three years of YABAH service, he returned to the Corps Program in 2008 as the Southeast Regional Manager, and is now heading up the new ACE construction program with Juneau Douglas HIgh School. He's in his eighth year of a one year adventure and is plotting his next climbing trip into the Juneau Ice Field. Alaska is home now.

Jenelle came to SAGA from Seward in 2010. She was a Connections sponsor at the Alaska SeaLife Center prior to her move to Juneau. She is now the Recruitment and Hiring Manager and spends her time talking to prospective AmeriCorps members about how awesome serving in Alaska is.

Clayton began his career with SAGA as an AmeriCorps member with the Alaska Service Corps. After serving two extremely rewarding terms, he joined the SAGA staff and has moved from Field Coordinator to Regional Manager. With the majority of his experience in the Interior and South-central regions of Alaska, Clayton is looking forward to working in the Southeast.

Nate started with SAGA in the summer of 2008 as a contracted ropes course facilitator. We found out he has been a guide and instructor in the outdoor education field for 14 years, so dagnabit, we kept him.

Carly Graduated from the University of Oshkosh Wisconsin and joined SAGA as an AmeriCorps team leader in 2005. After her stint she ventured to the great state of cheese teaching outdoor education at a YMCA camp. She also served in Americorps St. Louis on their Emergency Response Team before returning to Alaska in 2008 as the Northern Member Development Coordinator.

Eve started working at SAGA in November 2008. After graduating high school and traveling to Thailand for almost a year, she decided she wanted to be home for a while and got the great opportunity to work here. She enjoys being part of this wonderful organization and loves getting the chance to meet people from all over the States.

Joshua Houston came up to Alaska to serve an Americorps position with SAGA's YABAH program.  Sitka is so beautiful that he has decided to stay longer.  Passionate about keeping Youth Build in Sitka, Joshua is helping follow up with the previous year's participants and helping to get another program on the ground here in Sitka.
